How unique are you ?

How unique are you?

It’s a very tricky question to answer on the spot, isn’t it? Every person has their own perspective and world view, largely fueled by the way they’ve experienced and navigated the world.*

Passions can provide much-needed direction toward a goal or experience that will allow us to leave our own unique mark on the world. Fathoming your interests can help you find a direct, distinct path that is guided by your values and unique perception of the world.

Today’s guest artist is someone who is an ardent and strong zealot in adding beauty to this world, and what better way to do that, than to teach others how to create!!

I have been learning abstract painting from her this summer and it has been a great experience. Her Skillshare Classes have been so worthwhile! She has an amazing way of breaking things down so that they are understandable, and always keeping it light and fun.

Join me to give a huge welcome and ride through her creative adventure.

Las Vegas, NV

Artist, Designer, Online instructor

Hi… I’m Chris, an artist, designer, and desert dweller living on the outskirts of Las Vegas, NV.  I’ve been creating since I could hold a pencil, so I’m really passionate about art and design. I have tried almost every media out there! My favorite medium is watercolor, but I also just crocheted a pillow for my studio space, and I’m working on a paper-mache sculpting project. I also love to write, which makes blogging really fun.”- begins the artist.

Besides art and graphics school, and a stint at Pasadena Art Center, I’ve taken countless courses and branched out into sculpting, textile art, fashion design, paper, and yarn crafts and jewelry design, among other things.”

A lil bit of her journey

I started a handcrafted jewelry business about six years ago, centered on custom jewelry projects and wholesale accounts. My goal was to stay inspired while working in the corporate world full-time. Since I couldn’t find any jewelry to suit my style at the time, I decided to create my own, and it turned into a business.”

I ended up landing a wholesale account with a lovely gift shop in one of the most successful hotel-casinos on the strip! I went freelance last year and love the freedom and ability to work at a realistic pace. However, it’s been a struggle to create a source of balanced income. It’s a work in progress.”

The relaxing moments of Chris

A snapshot of fashion Illustrations gallery

Having been a professional in the fashion industry for over a decade, no surprise, I am greatly inspired by fashion illustration.”

The balance between professional and personal life

“Work-life balance is certainly the key to running a successful enterprise. Each of us has different needs, so for me, the key is to examine what is mandatory to accomplish in my daily schedule. Then, I see what amount of time I have to work with and get creative with it.

I’ve been known to work on projects while in between appointments, or in the car in between stops. If I’m getting too tired, I know I have to re-examine the balance once again. I do this about once a quarter to keep myself from getting too overwhelmed on any of my activities. I have had to learn how to say no to a lot of opportunities and be okay with it. Health and happiness have to become the top priority, then everything else follows.”

Proud moments and goal

“I am super passionate about building an online space where artists can come to learn, get encouragement, and nurture their (unique) skills”.

I’ve been tutoring online for the last five years and it has been hugely rewarding. I am committed to grow that front and expand my offerings.”

Advice to Novices

“Embrace Your Uniqueness.”

You will attract your own tribe. Follow good advice, but don’t try to be like everyone else and do all the things. It will wear you out and discourage you! Strive to be positive and stay on the high road. You will be recognized for it and your reputation will grow organically.”
